Siggy Request.. and how to post sigs.

Reacently i have been PM'd several times about people wanting sigs or how to post them. Well its no rocket science, but it can be confusing. So i will write this up once.. all other inquiries will be told to search!

Lets get the rules into place first;

~400x200 is the recomended size...
~No porn or offensive material
~Its not a personal ad to sell items or advertize..
~Content is up to the discretion of the moderators but suffice it to say that automotive forums is an all-ages site and no inappropriate content will be tolerated. A rule of thumb is that if you don't think it would be appropriate to display in a professional office, it probably won't be allowed. Many of the members occasionally check the site from work and there's no reason AF should have content that could jeopardize a persons job any moderator can request your sig be resized, removed or altered at anytime.

For what it's worth, here's my thoughts on sigs. I find them to be an invaluable tool used to identify different members at a glance and easily recognize who posted without having to pay too close attention to the actual username in text. With that said, I personally find that the 400x200 limit is extremely generous and, thus, there's absolutely no reason anyone needs to go beyond that. The sig isn't your personal billboard to sell stuff or advertise other sites. It's simply there to identify you. If you take your time and design something unique, it will serve it's purpose well and nobody will ever mistake you for someone else. If you change it every couple weeks and just try to find the sexiest girl to put in it, nobody will ever recognize you and you will forever remain part of the anonymous masses.

Now with that covered... here are the basics of posting a sig.
The biggest error i see is people trying to link photos from their home computers hard drive, it will not work! So you have to load the photo onto a website and lucky us AF has given everyone a gallery with their user ID. But you can link from cardomain if you have a site there and its recomended to link from other sites to save bandwith and every site says the same think...

To post photo's from other sites

1) Right click on photo
2) click properties
3) Copy the URL/web address
4) paste it in the text box here.
5) Tricky part... with the URL/web address in place... you have to place the forum code around it. Heres a sample.. making sure there are no spaces between anything...

To use your AF gallery
1) From home page click gallery
2) right side click log in
2a) If already logged in, click upload photos...
3) Click browse button and it will access your computer and you can upload photos from your computer.... 80K size is the limit though..
4) follow instructions...
5) when done loading click my gallery...
6) click on photo and when the page loads there will be a link already made for you to copy and paste with the forum code in place... copy and paste where need be.

Now to make sigs you need a photo editing software..i.e. Photoshop, JASC PSP8, or MS paint... and just go at it.. it takes a load of time to tinker with functions...

or with the info above post up some photos and I'm willin to kill some of my spare time making sigs and other ppl on here might even help out too, since winter is here and i have nothing to do outside....

This is your oppertunity to show your car off.......

Here are some Sig examples..

Hey noshun,

There is an edit button on your posts for a reason. Stop whoring. And you better hope who ever really owns that car doesnt find out you used it without their consent. You could get into some big legal trouble for that.
