I am thinking of buying a 3000GT.
This is my first post on this forum.
I am thinking about getting 92-92. I have about 5-10K to spend.? I will be on a students budget, if it matters. Tell me some reasons why this car is for me. Are they easily fixable, or mod-able? Do stuff break all the time I enjoy working on my cars. What kind of gas mileage do you guys get? My experience with vehicles has been on the other end of the car sprectrum. At the moment I own a 93 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I have modified to hell for offroading, but it is becoming to expensive. I do not plan on putting to many mods on my next car. I need something that is relatively cheap to own. Thanks for your time and listening to an idiotic newbie, who hasn't learned the tricks of this particular forum, yet. Jon :smoka: |

The VR-4 comes twin turbo, and AWD from the factory...

This is my standard rule. If you're gonna buy a sports car, ANY sports car... have $20k to spend. Yes, $20k. If you buy a $10k VR4, you're probably going to get a '91 or MAYBE a '92 with some mods and in the 100k mile range. You'll probably need to replace a lot of drivetrain parts, the turbos might need a rebuild... hell your engine might need a rebuild.
I'm not trying to say the VR4 is a bad car, it's an awesome car... but they require TLC just like any sports car... If you need a turbo car... DSMs are not really nice... but if it's not your daily driver they can go fast. If you need a VR4, I'd save up and get one that's been taken care of, driven nicely, and has lower miles.
