Leaking

My car is leaking a red fluid under the radiator. Looks like transmission fluid and when I added more stop leak fluid more leaked out and now my check engine light is on. Is it the lines or what is leaking. Its a 1997 Dodge Intrepid. Please help me out.

Re: Leaking

First, check the level of your transmission fluid; while the engine is warm and idling, see what the level is. If that's ok, check next to see what the level of your coolant is. That red fluid that you saw around your radiator is one of two things, coolant or transmission fluid. As far as the check engine light, you can check it yourself by turning the key on/off for three times. On the third time look at the check engine light and count how many times it flashes. For example, if it flashes two times pauses for a few seconds, and flashes another four times, you have a code 24. Once you have all your codes, write them down. If you need explanation of the codes feel free to email me @ [email protected]; I have a book on check engine codes.

Last year, I had the same problem about a leak near the radiator.. It cost me 0,20 cent for the hose.. It was the transmission hose that connect to the radiator.. if you go to the dealer, they will charge you $$$. Check in the back of your radiator with a flashlight.. If I remember correctly, when your facing the vehicule, the hose should be on your right side, near the headlight...
