You say you replaced the switch and that the fuse was ok. Did you take a test light and check the purple wire that plugs onto the motor? If you have power at the purple wire on low, med, and high, your looking at a bad blower motor.

Re: heater won't work (fan doesn't run)

Have you tried lightly tapping the housing to the blower motor with a screwdriver handle? If it starts to work then the bearing in it went bad allowing the armature to contact the field. I checked on the price of a new one, around $130. I switched out the bearing with another motor and now it works fine. Last winter my wife hit two deer and I had to replace the hood, fender, both headlights and cooling fan assy on our 96 Trans Port. The cooling fan motor was still good and I'm glad I saved it for it was the same as the blower motor and saved me bunch of money. You might be able to find another motor at a junk yard if you don't want to shell out that much money just before Christmas.

A Hundred and Thirty Dollars for a Blower Motor? I put one in my '93 and the jobber price was $38 with the cage and that was last February. Figure that was 40% off list.

Well that was for a Tran Port, maybe the one for the Blazer is cheaper.

Replace the fan and everything should be good.

Not necessarily LT, was waiting for him to get back. It could also be the resistor block in the blower housing and/or possibly the accessory relay on the blower housing.

First of all, thanks to everyone for your advice. I'm far from a mechanic, I know just enough to be dangerous. Also, this is a great site, very active community......

Any advice on how to check the resistor block and relay??

To check the resistor block, you would need a DVOM or at least a continuity tester. You can use the test light and check all the wires, one at a time on Lo, Med and Hi.

Did you check the purple wire at the Blower Motor?
