Installing tweeters??
Hey i jus recently got 10 free tweeters and i want to hook them up. i have a 97 toyota camry with stock speakers. the tweeters i have are
Specifications: Frequency Response: 5KHZ - 20 KHZ Sensitivity: 97 DB/W/M Impedance: 4 OHMS Sound Dispersion: 90 Can also be used with 8 & 16 OHMS system power rating-100w max sound dispersion- 90 i was wondering how do u hook them up.i cureently have a jbl gto 1200.1 amp hooked up too 2 12" kicker cvrs 400 watts rms each being run at 4 ohms which means the amp isp ushinf 800 watts rms. can i safely hook up the tweeters to my amp by straight connect w/o any other devices. also what if i ran the wire and spliced it straigfht to my stock front speakers. they are being popwered by a 50x4 watt jvc deck.

Re: Installing tweeters??
eewwww, god that would sound horrible....why do you need so many tweeters?
anyway, no you can't hook them up without another amp, one that has built in filters that can be set as high as 5-10khz. It would also sound like complete ass without any mids to go along with them.

I'd maybe connect two... Chances are they'd give you a little more clarity than the stock speakers alone, but two at most... Any more and you'd have bleeding ears. Assuming they have built in passive x-overs, you should be able to splice into the fronts without any problems. |
