Question How do I clear out my OEM tail lights?

I have a 2001 Grand Prix with ALTEZZA tails right now. I liked them when I first got them, now they don't look as good to me. I REALLY want to clear my OEM tails, but I don't know where to start. Can anyone help me? I would really appreciate any help.

I want to clear the OEM tails. Basically, I want to remove the red inside from the OEM to make them look clear.

Re: How do I clear out my OEM tail lights?

I was looking on cardomain.com today and I did see a grand prix that had OEM tails that the person cleared. I will have to ask him how he did it. It really looks sweet.

It has been done many times!

Our tails have 2 layers, clear on the outside and the red on the inside. You have to remove the tail lights, then use a flat blade screw driver and a hammer and chip away at the inside. But be very carefull as many have broken them also trying to remove the inside layer.Try doing a search at clubgp or ask the same question in the Apperance fourm for more details.

Re: How do I clear out my OEM tail lights?

if ya seem to mess up for some reason - just have a salvage yard located ya some replacment tails cause they are about 230 a tail from the dealer - the salvage yards will easily throw them at u for 25-35 a piece - good luck on the mod - let us know how it came out !
happy motoring ....

I might have, but I don't have my money in line to buy parts yet. You guys think there's anything wrong with buying parts before the car?
