Re: 90 RS Wont Start

ok, if you have already installed the new lock cylender with the two orange wires, and are using the copper blank key, it will not work. You have to go to the dealership and have them cut you a new ignition key, with a pellet resistor in it, the same value of your old ignition key for the system to operate.

However you mention that you have no interior lights. This sounds like a power supply problem. The power supply to whats under the hood, and to whats inside the car, are seperate systems. It sounds like you have a fault somewhere in your Interior power circuit. I do not have my shop manual with me, so i cant tell you exactly where to look.

You said you checked the fuses, did you only check the ones under the dash? or did you track down and check the underhood fuses?

Have you checked your battery positive battery cable? things to look for are corrotion, loose connections, rusted connections, insulation rub throughs. Also use a test light to check for power on both sides of your fuseable links. You may have had a power spike that fried your fuseable link to your interior power circuit.

Thats all i can think of off the top of my head, if youve already done those things, ill see if i can brainstorm a little more.

I don't think riupping out the audio system would effect the starting of the car. When my stuff got jacked the hella ripped it out , open end wires arcing off crap and blew a crap load of fuses but I went out there and it started right up so I doubt it would be that unless it blew something somewhere else.

Might also want to test the battery. Just because it's charged doesn't mean it will work. It can hold 12 volts - 18 volts no problem but the first time you open up a channel of electric flow it will kill out. Just a thought.

Re: 90 RS Wont Start

You said you replaced the cylinder, how about the actual ignition switch?? I believe it's a 13 dollar part at autozone. I had a similier problem not to long ago. I would turn the key and nothing, starter was good, battery was good, vats was good, computer was good, lock cylinder and key where good. Traced it down to a faulty ignition switch. The only difference is my cluster lights where acting funny. If I had the headlights off when I turned the key the left side of the cluster would light up, if I had the lights on, the right side would light up. But check on that..good luck.
