Installing a new Radio

What is the process of taking the dash off in order to install a new radio?
Is there a manual a person can get or an on-line diagram that shows the process? I know it cannot be a hard thing to do.

Re: Installing a new Radio

what year??
to take it off a newer truck, take off the dash piece that the e break release is in, it has several bolts i think 4, holding it up then it will just drop down, bc of the break dont remove it, the piece by the guage cluster has a set screw in that pocket at the top and 2? bolts holding it in, then you just pull carefull to release the set screws, now the piece by the heater is gone, unscrew the stock radio pull out the clips, install the EZ kit i know you already bought, put the new radio in the hole with the plugs all pluged in, the stock clips will just plug into a new harness with the aftermarket radio, slide the deck in and your done after re installing the dash, dont forget an aftermarket antenna

Re: Installing a new Radio

you probably don't have to remove the full dash, just the plastic face plate around the exsisting radio.

If you haven't got it in a week from now let me know, I'm going to install a new system in my blazer then and I can send you some photo's of my process.

if your doing more than a basic system check out this web sitehttp://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=70

Re: Installing a new Radio

to remove the piece around the factory radio you have to get the bolts under that plastic piece by the floor on the drivers side, because there are 2 or 3 bolts holding it in at the bottum, on my 98 thats how it is ne ways

Re: Installing a new Radio

On newer 01 and up, you have to remove the lower dash piece to get to the upper dash ass'y and then you'll see the screws to remove the radio. Major pain....also, do not use a lot of force, you might have a screw to or two left to remove. also, you need a nutdriver to remove the dash screws..
