2 Turbo's on SL Motor?!?!?!

ok i just got done reading the FAQ sticky and i read the link about swapping a TT. i am new to the whole 3000gt world so someone inform me.

so that was a list of parts to do a complete TT swap to TT motor specs??? both motors, the SL and the TT have the same compression ratios? if the SL motor has a higher compression, wouldnt slapping 2 turbo's on a the high compression engine of the SL lead you to running very low boost or blowing the motor? someone explain the compression ratios of the 2 engines to me. are they the same?

Compresion on the SL motor is 10:1 the VR-4(TT) has a 8:1 Compression

So You're limited to lower boost on a TT SL motor... think it was like 8 or something... someone just said.

Re: 2 Turbo's on SL Motor?!?!?!

There is a guy on 3si who runs 10psi on a 10:1 motor on pump gas. He uses a light amount of alcohol injection. If you want to run higher boost on a 10:1 you need more fuel, ie larger injectors. Being I havent looked at the FAQ I dont know how much info is there about the swap. If you want a ton more info, check out the FWD Forced Iduction section on 3si. You can probably spend hours reading threads about people who have or are going to be performing swaps or doing conversions.

ok thats what i thought...

the FAQ section didnt mention anything about compression or boost. i figure with the higher compression of the n/a you would want to run water/alky injection to keep the intake air temp down, so you can run any moderate boost. ill check out that site but before i do i have one last question.

to lower the compression on the SL motor, the only thing you need to change is the 10:1 pistons to the 8:1 pistons???

Re: 2 Turbo's on SL Motor?!?!?!

Basically yeah, but changing the pistons out is not a simple job. You basically have to tear down the whole motor to change them.

The 32 might make one think that its 3.2 liters I guess.

thanks for clearing that up...sorta. I'm still a bit confused on terminology/logic: how does 'Z32' correspond to the 90-96 300ZX?? i guess i need to read up on my history of the Z car.

They have different designations for the different cars heh. the 350Z is a z33. and a z31 is the older 300zx from the 80's

thanks. ya i kinda see the pattern. not sure where it comes from, but i guess as long as one can tell what generation of the Z car it corresponds to, its all good.
