Question Ford Explorer Needs Help

I recently took my 2000 Ford Explorer in to have it serviced because the check engine light came on. The tech did a diagnostic check and the code P0174 came out. I had them do a fuel injector system clean and replace the battery because the voltage was too low, but a week later the light came on again. Here is the problem: when the weather is cold my car will turn on but it sputters and hesitates to stay on. In normal weather it seems to be okay. Also, my temperture gauge seems to stay closer to "C" after I have run the car for hours. I have spent lots of money trying to fix the problem and I think that sometimes they give me the run around because I am female. Can someone give me some tips on what it might be that way I can have it taken in fixed. I will appreciate all the responses.

Thank you,
Car trouble in Texas

Have someone change your thermostat.
It shouldn't be more then $50 installed.

Totally agree, replace the Thermostat. I had a similar problem with my temperature sensing and after replacing the thermostat it was ok. Let me ask, does the cabin get heated? Also, I would reccommed purchasing the thermostat from Ford. The Motorcraft thermostat has a tiny bleed hole in it that enhances the performance.

there's so many codes which is bad, diagnostic machines will read one code at at time it sounds like. When you get that part replaced then another code shows up. It P's a person off. You'll probably have to get another check, but put your foot down and make sure they do things right. You're sputtering my be caused by the MAF (mass air flow) sensor.

Plus there are back alley mechanics that have smaller diagnostic machines, and possibly help you out at a much lower cost. This in an opinion to look at.
