Finally!! Pics!!

ok so for about 3 months i've been saying i was gonna put some pics up of this filter thing that goes from my exhaust and out.. its a line that goes out of the exhaust manifold to a little black box with a filter on the other end on the driver's side of the engine.. i have a feeling its a regulator to stop backfiring.. what do you guys think??

also, i remember talking about catalytic converters and test pipes and everything. there are pics of all the parts of my exhaust from the manifold back to the muffler, which unfortunately also shows an ugly rear fender..
what are all these parts (besides the muffler)??
the 12 and 34 show what order the parts are in from front to back

take a look at the rest of my cardomain page if you like

Re: Finally!! Pics!!

That is the line for your AIV. You can take all of that out. If you haven't noticed, all of the KA-T guys have taken the AIV shit out. How would you fit a turbo in there with that shit in the way? It would probably melt if you left it in there, even with a bottom mount.

Re: Finally!! Pics!!

yes, that is an aiv for emission purposes. if you don't have emissions in that area you could take it out if you want, but it really isn't doing any harm. just let it chill there until you get a turbo.

12 is your catalytic convertor.
34 is a muffler/resonator for your exhaust to quiet things down and not make your car sound like a honda.
that other pic you have there above the pic of your muffler also looks like a resonator that's used to help keep the exhaust quiet.

im not really sure why the previous owner of your car put the filter on there, im guessing because he was a ricer the filter there really serves no purpose.

Re: Finally!! Pics!!

we have fairly strict emissions here but nothing like cali.. so yeah i guess i'll leave it in till the turbo goes in.. does it actually expel air from the exhaust though?? and do all 240s like mine come with something like this? (without the filter?) what exactly does it do? take some of the emissions from the exhaust and expel them through the engine bay so that it does better on emission testing?
sorry about all the questions but i really wanna know what it is.. and it makes a sound kinda like an exhaust leak (i have no leak though)
thanks in advance

Re: Finally!! Pics!!

routes exhaust gas back into your engine to be burned off instead of going through exhaust and pulluting the air.. at least that's the concept

Re: Finally!! Pics!!

I removed my carbon canister.

Carbon canister=teh ghey. It was in the way of my side mount so it had to go.

the reason i put the comparison pictures up is so that people could see how bad it looked originally, and how good it looks now without a spoiler.. if i ever get one, its gonna be humble.. i used to have a link to a 240sx bodykit site with a few decent spoilers but i don't know what happened to it. and the hoes?? the one with me in the pics is my gf.. she's got a killer ass.. the others.. curly hair is her roommate who always complains about not getting laid cause she refuses to let her "number" increase by sleeping with other guys.. so she loves the cock.. and the other one in the first pic, i don't care, she looks good with my gf in bed!!
