Question 95 3.1L Intake manifold replacement

I recently replaced the intake manifold gasket in my 95 lumina with a 3.1 liter engine. I also replaced the o-ring on the intermediate shaft. The problem I have now is after I installed the gasket and put everything back together my lifters are noisy. I was told that I need to run the engine awhile so that my lifters fill back up with oil. How long does it take for the lifters to fill up with oil? I have done this and still have noise coming from the rocker arms. Also the problem they told me I might have done is put the pushrods in wrong. There are 2 lengths of pushrods for every cylinder. The short one is for the intake and the long one is for the exhaust. What I would like to know is which valve is the intake and which is the exhaust? Could the egr valve cause the lifter noise? When I start the car the oil light goes off but still have rocker arm noise?

On the valves pushrods does it go left from right intake then exhaust?

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated as the car ran good before the intake manifold gasket replacement but now the rocker arms are ticked loud.

Is this from left to right? starting at the waterpump pulley going right it goes: e-i-i-e-i-e I think it is the front one that I have messed up.

the diagram is as you stand in front of the car looking at the engine. The left side is the water pump side of the engine (passenger side of car)

Re: 95 3.1L Intake manifold replacement

I have recently did a intake replacement where I had to remove the pushrods from the lifters. I have checked and installed the pushrods in the right order. I am having a problem getting the oil pumped back up into the lifters. My mechanic told me to warm the engine until the oil pumped through the lifters. I have warmed the engine and ran for 10 minutes or so but lifters are still clicking. The lifters are roller type lifters.
Can someone tell me how long should I run the engine so that the lifters fill with oil. I have not taken out the lifters and did not replace them.
Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Troy Buresh
