Removing S/C Pulley

Hey guys,
My wife got me an early X-Mas gift: 3.4 pulley from zzperformance. My question is can I use a regular gear puller or do I have to have the puller designed to remove the pulley?

Re: Removing S/C Pulley

Reg. gear pullers won't work. I think some of the sites now have a rental on pullers.
Good luck.

pulley puller

yea for $29 + $75 core charge you can rent one from here: http://www.zzperformance.com/zzp/pro...ley_puller.htm

just be sure to use a lot of anti seize on that bolt! i thought i had enought on there but ended up hacksawing the bolt off of the tool and replacing it because the nut in the plate siezed. other than that its pretty simple.

Re: Removing S/C Pulley

Watch the 8mm studs on the puller. They tend to shear off and can be a real problem if they break in the s/c shaft (I had to use a dremel to get one out). I second Kid's comments about the anti-seize. You can't use too much of the stuff. I purchased a Pulley Boys puller with my 3.4. Worked well but MUCH easier going on that coming off!! Be prepared to use some elbow grease and It will probably scare the crap out of you when she breaks free. Just take your time and you'll be fine.
