fixed some stuff...

Well, I had a week off from work and got to work on my car. My boy from NJ came down and helped me sort some things. I finally got to drive a SOHC VTEC d16y8 but it's in a 96' dx so I'm sure it would be different in a crx. It was still nice though. Anyway, I figured out why my car was acting slow. I knew my brake disc was rubbing in the rear so I bought new rotors and pads for cheap. Turned out to be the caliper was seized to the rotor! After taking a long time to figure out how everything went back together (even with the manual)... yes, I'm an idiot... LoL... I inspected the other side and decided it was good to go. I bet I got more hp on tap too. I mean, the caliper isn't seized anymore so my car is moving without any friction. Oh, and a damn dizzy bolt was loose so I tightened it up. When I hit 80-90mph the sunroof pops up in the front. I've decided to find some sheet metal and weld it in place permanently. Does anyone know where I can find this kind of metal? And how thick it needs to be?
Thanx

Re: fixed some stuff...

look in the yellow pages for metal yard, I would go with 22-24g, maby a little thicker depending on your welding skills. By the way dont you mean the piston siezed to the caliper? If the caliper siezed to the rotor you would be dragging your tire as the brakes would be locked up completely.

That's what I meant. The piston thingy seized but it's all good now. Thanx. I'm gonna look for that metal real soon. I've never welded before but with some help and some practice I'm sure it'll turn out ok.

I'll do that...

BTW... Yesterday, I got to check out that JDM warehouse near where I live. They have a whole CRX SiR front clip just sitting there as well as other stuff JDM. I'm going to get a USDM lip for like $30. The dude said just call ahead of time so I reckon they can have it ready. Right in the middle of it all was a Skyline without an engine on it's rotors with the wheels in the car. It seemed kind of cruel to do that to it, but it was still nice to see one in person. My friend touched the RHD steering wheel and almost creamed his pants. LMAO! They have tons of parts just in piles too like seats. I wonder if they need help sorting/cataloging all that stuff. They all looked like gangsters so we didn't stay too long.

Re: fixed some stuff...

It's just outside a suburban neighborhood in the industrial area between two towns (about a mile from a tiny circle track). I figured the dudes are like rich kids who's parents got all this stuff shipped from Japan or something. Anyway, the one dude had corn rows, another had piercing (tried to act badass) and the other well, he was greasy looking... I didn't care but it looked like they were about to unload something and we were getting in the way or they just didn't like us up in there. The door was wide open and I can't hear too good so I just walked up to talk to them. The dude with the corn rows seemed to be really cool and tried to hook me up. They were probably just tired after all it was like almost 5pm. Oh, and I live near Greenville, SC. The place is called RimsandThings. Some dude posted their incomplete website awhile ago...

The skyline that is in the need for speed game is located 10 minutes from where i am sitting right now.

You should hear how loud the turbo is when its just idling
