d15b for a b15 in a civic 92-95 swap. need help.

How much work is involved in swapping a d15 vtec into a 92 civic hatch. The vtec i got has a flex plate like an auto matic on it. can it be done? The tranny i got is a five speed stock tranny will it bolt up? can the vtec be run with stock harness and ecu until i got more money?

If you are talking about putting in a d15b vtec, then it's easy except for the vtec wiring, it uses the stock mounts and everything, your stock tranny will bolt on .

Re: d15b for a b15 in a civic 92-95 swap. need help.

You need a vtec ECU for the vtec to work. You can use your existing engine harness, but you need to run wires for vtec. Check here for wiring: http://www.hondaswap.com/~pills/obd1guide.html
You jsut need to run the wires to the correct pins on the shock mount harness, because all the '92 civics came with vtec prewired on the ECU side of the shock mount. So just add the wires to the actual engine harness to the correct pins.

Try making your own thread instead of bringing back an old one from 6 months ago.

What ECU are you using? What car is it going into (CX, VX, DX, LX, EX, Si?)?
3rd Post down should help you: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=406281

Re: d15b for a b15 in a civic 92-95 swap. need help.

"vtec ecu" doesn't say anything, read that link and you'll see why. And you'll need to add the wires for vtec from the engine side of the harness to the correct pins on the shock tower mount connector. Honda prewired vtec in all '92 Civics, but only from the engine bay side of the shock tower mount connector to the ECU. So you'll still have to run the wires from the engine to that connector. Like in this pic: http://www.ff-squad.com/tech/wiring/...ktowerplug.jpg You'll see it wired like on that bottom part of the pic and the other side of the connector will have black plugs covering up the wires, you'lll need to take those plugs out and pin the wires in those spots.
