Halfshaft removal tips
Hey guys, I have a 95 TSi FWD and I'm trying to remove my halfshafts, I'm following my Chilton's manual to the T, but my halfshafts will not push back through my hub. Does anyone out there have a brilliant tip to help me out? I've tried a billion different kinds of lube, a torch to heat it up, and I've pounded the ship out of the end to the point where I'll probably have to replace the halfshaft if I ever get it out. Anywho... if anyone has an idea, I'd appreciate hearin' from ya.

Re: Halfshaft removal tips
do they move at all? im assuming that you took off the nut and washer
if they move but they dont clear the hub to make it out. you need to unbolt the lower balljoint so that you can swing the wheel hub out to make room.

yeah, when i replaced mine, they slid right out of their respective hubs. i unbolted the lower ball joint arm thing so i could swing the hub out enough to give the halfshaft enough room to get out.
on a side note, dont be under the tranny when you pop the other side out, i was and i got tranny fluid all over me, that shit stinks

Re: Halfshaft removal tips
you might have to buy an axle pusher. you can probably get one at your local auto parts store. it bolts onto the wheel studs and has a big bolt that just pushes on the axle. try that and it should work.
