I tried to replace the starter on our 1996 S-10 pickup. Can anyone tell me how you are supposed to get the starter out? I can get the bolts out that hold the starter in place but there is not enough room to actually remove it. Do I have to lift the engine to remove the starter?
Thanks, Dale |

Your not going to believe this but it will come out. Sorta like a Chinese puzzle, you just have to find the right position.

You Do not, I repeat, Do Not have to take out any motor mounts. I have done two of these and it will come out just like Mikado14 said. You have to rotate the starter to the right position and pull it out a certain way but once you got it you got it. After that have fun getting those little wires back on.

I am not going to say it wont come out with out lifting, but some times it is easier to remove one (1) bolt to make things easier. Some of these have heat shields on them that make them more difficult.
