dont the 88-89 tegs use a lock up torque converter to shift instead of the ecu?

is ur car standard or automatic? if its automatic then use an auto ECU. either a PM6 Auto, PG7 auto or PR4 auto. it should work fine. check the codes on ur ecu by counting the number of times it flashes consecutively without stopping/pausing. if it flashes 5 times. its a code 5. 9 times=code 9 etc... just keep counting because u may have more then one code. also, check the mpfi wiring and make sure u have the right plugs going to the right things.
