VTEC conversion?!

Hey i just now saw that there are VTEC conversion kits availiable. Are they any good? im assuming they convert Civic Lx, Dx, Hx, Cx and Integra GS and LS To VTEC. the price was like $200. How is that possible? You cant just slap VTEC on an engine thats not designed for it can you?

Re: VTEC conversion?!

They're probably just kits of all the things you need to put a vtec head on a non-vtec block. I don't see why they'd be available for the D-series though, just slap it on, get the right T-belt and have fun (well basically anyways). They're probably just the oil lines and fittings, head gasket, etc. Like this Eagle one at the top: http://www.modacar.com/products/Acura/Integra/MODAENK

Re: VTEC conversion?!

Golden eagle makes FULL conversion kits, dowel pins, oil lines and what not, headgasket, arp head studs, gsr girdle and oilpickup and all the thing necesarry for a good build without machining. They even supply you with a tap so you can tap the head for an oil line yourself.

I believe with everything the kit would come to around 7-800$ but well worth it for the time and what not you would save from not having to goto a machine shop or have someone build you a motor.

Re: VTEC conversion?!

You understand that we're saying that it's parts to DO the head swap, and not simply adding vtec to a non-vtec head right? Just want to make sure.

Re: VTEC conversion?!

k lets explain to him. for example you have a ls motor, a 1.8 non vtec motor. now you want to add vtec to it. to add vtec you need a vtec head to replace the stock 1.8 non vtec head. but to put hte vtec head on, you need to do some modifications now what the rest of these people are talking about is the equipment to do the modifications to the vtec head so you can put it on the 1.8 non vtec block

It is not a FULL conversion kit, No mone makes a FULL conversion kit. Assuming you already have the engine block, to be a full kit they would have to include the VTEC head, VTEC solenoid, and the engine block.

They clearly state "Sorry, we don't include the VTEC head, VTEC solenoid, or the LS or B20 engine block for this price."

Do not go off calling people rude names when they point things out. This behavior is not acceptable here @ AF, it is not the reason we are all here. We are here to help, not to flame. Flaming and rude behavior is not the reason we are here.

Not everyone could see that's what you ment, so calm down. The thread starter, for example, seemed to be confused as to what was needed to have a vtec conversion.

Should we just let him stay confused when he reads the post saying "Golden eagle makes FULL conversion kits.." Full Conversion kits, by definition, should include everything needed to fully covert it. Everything needed includes the head. This does not include the head, therefor it is not a "full conversion kit" by definition. There is nothing wrong with pointing this out to people who are confused on the topic fully understand this does not include everything needed.

I was not trying to be a smartass. I have already politely explained above. Stop the flaming and insults. Attacks on members, personal insults and flaming are against forum policy. Do not blatantly violate the membership guidelines you agreed to follow by creating your account. Attacks on other members, insults and flaming are not tolerated and are not why we are here at AF.

Really? When I look out side I see New Zealand.
AF is not a country, and does not have to follow the laws of any nation. It is a web based discussion forum with its own rules and regulations about membership.
