stuck on brake lights

The brake lights on my 2002 Explorer are suddenly stuck on. There is a switch on the brake pedal arm that when removed turns the lights of, I wonder if anyone knows how this switch works?

Cool Found the answer

In case anyone else has this question. There is a switch that obviously went bad mounted just above the brake pedal on the arm of the brake pedal. I opened the bad switch to see if I could see what the problem was but could find nothing. It is not obvious how the switch works (magnetic maybe or perhaps liquid mercury inside) because there are no moving parts on the switch.

Hope this is of value for others. The replacement switch came from my local Ford dealer.
