Ugh air pump bracket broke issues with MAF!

Hey guys, my 89 T/A 350 V8 with TPI was VERY strong running...

It has a GM Cam, SLP Intake, high pressure fuel regulator, Accell coil & wires, Hooker headers & more...No A/C & no air pump...

But...

My Air pump bracket broke while driving and forced my Serpintine belt into my intake hose...It rubbed through the plastic hose AND frayed some of my wires to the MAF...

Now I get the dreaded (I think its 33 or 34 code) (MAF)

I spliced the wires back together, but it had also sucked up some pastic dust into the intake...(I also cleaned inside the MAF and intake) but I still I get these codes and while it still runs fairly well...Nowhere near as strong as it did...

Any idea's?
Thanks much for any imput!

disconnect your battery for a while, then reconnect it and see if that helps you out. that will clear the codes out of the computer. but if there is still something wrong the light will stay on.

Re: Ugh air pump bracket broke issues with MAF!

Thanks for the reply,
Yes, I tried that after cleaning out the MAF & Intake and the code still comes up...
So I don't know if I am losing some electrical power because the wires were spliced or if the MAF is now bad or both?

BTW, Nice Tacoma, looks like my Brothers out in Arizona!

When the wires were cut it could have shorted out across the sensor before it lost power. You may need a new MAF.

Re: Ugh air pump bracket broke issues with MAF!

Thanks for the reply.
I guess that is possible.
But the wires were never cut all the way through, just some frays where a few of the many wires...

Is there any way of testing a MAF to see if its the issue? Those are pretty expensive and I hate to just but the part if its still a wire issue...
