My instrument panel is dead

I recently aquired this little number (98' Galant) and got a panasonic head unit for it. I removed the old one and I know bening stupid hard wired the other unit, I have installed before and never had a problem (never hard wired). However this time when I spliced everything together the radio seemed to work fine however I must have shorted a relay or something because the instrument panel is not lighting when headlights are on nor any other light. And the fuses are fine.
I am also left with two extra wires of course probably being one of the problems to close the loop. If anyone has any ideas that would be great and please no smart ass answers, I would just like to solve the problem.
