Are the stock speakers good enough?

I am upgrading my stereo, I am goin to buy an mp3 deck, not sure what one yet, and either 1 or 2 12" Type X Alpine Subs, depending on my finances. I am just wondering if the speakers that come stock with the car can live up to the systems power. My car is a 98 so it has the Delco 8 speaker set up... no not the Bose, but i heard they r pretty much the same thing.

Re: Are the stock speakers good enough?

the stock speakers will have no problems playing off the new HU, and while they do suck, they will work. When you have the money you can upgrade them later on. i know of a couple people with subs, aftermarket HU, and stock speakers inside. sounds alright, but nothing like 6.5" Diamond Audio HEX components up front either.

Re: Are the stock speakers good enough?

i wouldnt say so - the GP acually has a hell of a stock speaker set up - even if you got a basic model with lowest quality everything... the delco stock system sounds better than the mach system ford has by far - just put a new head unit(not a piece of shit walmart brand) in an u will be amazed , unless your speakers are shitty from abuse - they should not sound bad at all.... your stereo must be crummy or speakers are crappy - i have never heard a crummy stock stereo outa GP or GA - an of course ur not gonna have ground pounding bass an what not from stock setup everyone knows that ...

Re: Are the stock speakers good enough?

i thought they were monsoon? mine's a 97 gt. dunno if that makes a lot of a difference. so whatever the speakes are, they SUCK. i bought the car feb 2003 with one speaker blown, so i imagine they were prolly abused. about a year later, all my speakers were blown except my tweeters. about 6 months ago i installed a clarion zxy745mp head unit and i'm gonna put in infinity perfect components up front and in the rear kappa 6x9's and set of perfect components. btw, i've got 8 speaker set up. stock speakers are horrible in my opinion.

btw, the bose set up in the inifniti g35 i hear sucks too. i don't think bose is doing a good job in keeping up the brand name. perhaps their in home systems are still nice, but as far as car set ups. not too good.
