1994 E-150 ABS light on

I have a 94 E-150 (Club Wagon Chateau) in otherwise excellent cdx, with 108K miles. ABS light is on. Brakes (other than ABS function) work fine. Local Ford dealer charged $95 to check ABS diagnostic codes. he told me that results not definitive and that any of the components could be defective. He estimated cost to repair up to $1700, to replace each of the major modules. $1700 not feasible. Any suggestions for how to proceed to repair? I can do much of the work.

Take it elsewhere and have it rechecked next time you need other work.

I too have a '94 Chateau Club Wagon with the ABS light on. MY van has the 5.8L and 125,000 miles. I can't find anything wrong with the breaks, at all.
The light has been on for about a year now, and I still can't find a single problem with the brakes. The Ford dealer gave me the same line. The told me it would be about $1500.00 to try to find and repair the problem. I told him that the only problem I can find is the ABS light is on, and I wasn't going to pay them $1500. to replace parts that are i good working order.
One of the Technicians told me it could be a false code, or simply a bad sensor or just a problem with the warning light. WHen he got off work, we took the van and "road tested" it. We even activated the ABS system, and everything works fine. I bought him a case of beer for his time, and thanked him. I'll live with the ABS light on.

Yesterday, my "airbag" light came on.

There is another post like this, and the guy got ABS light to go out by replacing speed sensor on rear axle. Figure that out, must be connected to system, probably to tell if a wheel is locked

I also had my air bag light come on and then the horn and cruise control quit working. I had to replace the "clock spring". THis is a flexible wiring device located under the airbag. I think it is a pretty common failure.
