3.8 series 1
I happen to come across an older boneville ssei the other day with a 3.8 series 1 supercharged motor in it. And since then i have been wondering what were the horsepower specs on those motors from the the factory versus a 3.8 series 2 supercharged motor and what changes did they make when they came out with the series two engines? Anybody with some info let me know thanks.

The 1993 Bonneville SSEi had a supercharged Series I 3800 and was rated at 205 hp. The 1996 Bonneville SSE (SSEi not available for '96) had a supercharged Series II 3800 and was rated at 240 hp.
In 1986, GM's 3.8 litre engine was modified for transverse-mounting in smaller, FWD vehicles. About this same time, the 3800 designation was introduced, and these engines would later be considered the Series I. The normally aspirated Series I produced 170 hp. The supercharged version was introduced on the 1992 Buick Park Avenue Ultra and was rated at 205 hp. The last production year for the Series I was 1995. The Series II is different in that, although the stroke remained at 3.4" (86.36 mm), and the bore remained at the eponymous 3.8" (96.52 mm), the engine architecture was vastly changed. The connecting rods are 1" (25.4 mm) shorter, so the crankshaft had to be redesigned. A new intake manifold improved breathing, and the cylinder heads have larger valves. The result is increased horsepower (205 hp for the NA engine and 240 hp for the SC engine), better fuel economy, and 26 lbs lighter overall weight. |

The supercharger looks different also on the.Bonneville, is it the m64 instead of the m90. The snout appears to be shorter looking.
