Throttle Body replacement

I'm about to replace my throttle body, and i want to know if there are any special procedures i need to do, or anything to watch out for. I also would like to know what the gasket number where it attaches to the intake mani. I know people say you can re-use it if your careful, but i'm just going to replace that too, if possible i mean.

Re: Throttle Body replacement

what's the problem of the throttle body? most likely you can replace the individual parts of the TB instead of the whole thing. it's expensive to buy a whole TB.

you can get the gasket from the dealer, not sure about the part number but tell them that you want a throttle body gasket for you year model of car.

you can really reuse it. if it's metal, you can defiintely reuse it.

I've replaced everything, from plugs/wires, to all the hoses, to the TPS, and i still have idle surge, and i'm getting the new TB for $40. I would much rather just replace it, get my car running right, and then go and take apart the old TB and find the error.

Re: Throttle Body replacement

yea, i was thinkin about it since a friend i know would sell me his 91 TB and Intake Manifold for $100. Is it pretty hard to put on a 2G if you do both together, and is it really worth it?

Can i check to see if the ISM is bad? I'm guessing it's the little motor looking object, across the TB from the TPS. Or would the ISM come with the TB?

ahh, thanks, that'll make me sleep well tonite. I heard that you lose quite a bit of coolant when doing this, is that true? I have a radiator leak, so that would probably be a good time to address both.

Re: Throttle Body replacement

you dont lose much just wrap some rags around the hoses and clamp them with a pair of vise grips before you unhook them.
