Don't know if its something dire, but the car still runs real nice. it's gotta be something simple or at least something that doesn't require severe surgery.

I forgot, have you done a compression test on the engine? New Carb? Tune up?

what if i have a kinda gurgaling sound coming from my valves at full throttle? are the seats or guides worn? or is it the rings?

Re: still rough 429

i have had a professional tune up, and a new carb, but that isn't the problem. anymore. ive narrowed it (with professional help) to a HUGE VACCUM leak. Thank god. Now I just need to know what's up with my valves. I have replaced or recalibrated just about everything under the hood except the valves and cylinders and the motor is in too good a shape to have shot cylinders.. It has just been sitting, so my seals may be bad.

Re: still rough 429

Gurgling? And at full throttle only? Sounds funky; are you sure it's not the air intake or something?

(glad it's just vacuum, that makes it easier, or at least cheaper)

Re: still rough 429

Yeah. It does it when I am on the freeway, and I need to speed up to pass or just cause I am cruising. would fuel grade have anything to do with this? I don't drive like a speed demon, but i know what the thing should do.

Re: still rough 429

It's a 70's vehicle, right? It may need some higher octane; try an octane boost product, or just fill up with high test.
