resetting the computer on 2001 LX

ok a simple question (((maybe)))
I did a battery unplug to reset the computer on a 2001 Windstar LX I tried it for a couple of minutes this morning but when I turned on the radio after I hooked the battery back up. . . . . My radio presets were still intact.

i tried again this afternoon, leaving the battery un hooked for 45 minutes. I turned the radio on pressed the horn and tried to drain any energy that may have been left.
When i hooked the battery back up the radio presets were still intact.

DID the computer reset WITHOUT the radio resetting, or is there some static memory module that i can't reset.
My friend said i have to drive it a couple of hundred miles so it can check its self and reset itself. . . or pay the FORD Techs $70 bucks to reset it.

Is this true???

I think the radio has its own independent "memory" devices.

To reset you must disconnect negative battery cable and turn headlight switch on for at least 10 minutes. Turn off headlight switch and reconnect negative cable. This only clears ECM you have to relearn the ECM as mentioned in other threads.

Relearning ECM requires you to accelerate to 60mph and drop down to 40 without hitting the accelerator (the type of thing that would happen when coming off a freeway) at least twice.
