rattles at hgih revs, remove heat shield, yes or no? ASAP

I am changing my oil right now so my car is still in the air because I am letting the oil settle and making sure nothing leaks before i put it back down, anyways, I remember that when I rev up my car in the high RPM range there is a nasty rattle, I remember a threaDd that someone said their heatshield rattled alot, do I need ot fix it somehgo, I can tap it and then it keep s shaking and rattling for a long toime, I wasthinking abiout removing it but thought iyt might be there for a reason, is it just to keep my feet cooler or is it to keep heat away from electronis behind the console/dash?

I would like a reply ASAP so I know if i can do it or not before I lower the car to the ground.

I had the heat shield removed from my 90, about 5 yrs ago.
I haven't experienced any problems as a result.

The rattling/ringing was extremely annoying. Way to make a perfectly good car sound and feel like crap.

nothing wrong with removing it. it's just there to be a pain in your ass. It makes it alot easier to remove when you install a short shifter too.

why, do you have to unbolt the exhaust to get to the shift linkage when you install the short shifter?

I was planning on installing one on my car but seeing as my license will be officially suspendd in about 3-4 weeks I guess I wont be

You dont...i was talking about the heat shield. You can take a shifter out by pulling it around the exhaust. it's kinda hard to do but it eventually works. The heat shield is on the top and a short shifter is longer so it makes it hard to shift.
