Exclamation Flooding VDub

I have an IL4 2.0L 95 Jetta. I was driving and a truck drove by and splashed 2 ft. of water over the hood and it stalled. I took the air box off and the air filter was drenched. I dried off distributor cap and it still gets spark. Everything electrical works and it sounds like it wants to turn over but wont. There is no water in the oil or transmission. When i try to start it it just clicks. Please Help any information will help

Re: Flooding VDub

It's probably hydro-locked, water is in the cylinder & will not compress. Remove the spark plugs & crank over the engine a few times to blow out the water. You may want to add a little lubricant, like ATF or WD-40, if the water has been in there a while. Put he plugs back in & it should be okay.

Hey thank you for your reply, I tried that and it didnt work, still the same sounds, no water even came out. I decided to take off the air box and check to see if there was water in the throttle body, couple of drips. Then i removed the 5 bolts on the intake manifold, and i can see water residue in there. Do you think that if i remove the intake manifold and see if there is water sitting in there? Someone told me that there could be water sitting in there not allowing me to start her. Also i think that the starter might have burnt up because it just makes a click sound and gets hot. Thank you, every comment is appreciated.

Re: Flooding VDub

If you removed the spark plugs it should crank no mater how much water is in there. If it doesn't then chcek the battery & starter.
