fuel question
Hi all,Im going to attempt to find a del sol vtec for sale.I read somewhere that they need premium fuel.Is this true?thanks

they don't need it, but to get the max performance out of it or any other engine, the higher the octane, the higher the spark, the higher the hp goin out. I put regular 89 octane in my DOHC VTEC model once... ran like shizz. Ran, but not well. Did it again after I advanced my timing/chipped ECU/installed V-AFC.. did 87 octane cause I was broke after all that work. Car actually stalled out at stoplights. Stick to 93 or better.

Owners manual requires 91 octane or better. Nothing but 93 octane has been in my car since I bought it (that's what they sell around here). The VTEC model has a higher compression, so the higher octane is necessary to burn properly.
You should be able to use regular 89 octane for the S and Si models though if you go that route.
