Question Electrical Problem?

I have a 2000 GTP Coupe and the other day the display on the Radio for the freq id/Clock went out and does not illuminate any more. All of the other radio lighting and interior lighting is fine. Anyone have any clues?

I have a 2000 gtp with the same problem. I was told by a Pontiac mechanic and their parts person that it is common for them to go out. I use my headsup display now. The radio is around 350.00 from the dealer.
