Question 2000 NEON valves tapping

I bought her in august with 104 000 km, not a kocking or tapping sound was commin out of that motor , now it has 115 000 km and I have noticed the quite a bit of valve noise , all the time, not just on start up, does anyone know why this is and how I can fix it, do I need my valves adjusted????

you most likely need a valve job. i had the same problem with my 96 neon, that had 113000 miles on it, valve job cleared up the noise.

valve job

When i did my valve job, i had blown a connecting rod so i was in the middle of a complete overhaul. you have to remove the head from the block in order to be done. I had the head pressure tested for cracks, and re-surfaced for trueness, as well as the valve job. I believe the total cost was about $160, and had $800 in the whole overhaul. It was money well spent, i was so suprised at the difference in power i had before and after the rebuild. If you do the valves, take the head in to a machine shop yourself, not through a second party. Most NAPA parts stores should be able to do this for you.
