I can't get it to start.it turns over, it backfires once in awhile (leaves black sute/dust whatever on the snow under the exhaust... )any ideas would be great. despreatly need help already have 6 inches of snow on the ground and my V8 T-bird just dont handle in the white stuff.

Make sure your vacuum lines are all connected. If not the engine won't start. Good Luck

hmm... on the vacum tree comeing off from the intake manifold the spot that is supposed to be capped is open... cap fell off er sumthing... any ideas on a replacement?

Just try to put some electrical tape over it. That should fix it fine unless you find the cap on the ground somewhere. Vacuum line problems are typical on first gen explorers. Mine did the same thing yours did and I couldn't figure out what it was until I found spot where the cap was missing from. I fortunately found the cap under the truck and put it back on and fired right up. Check to make sure there on securely on a regular basis. Good Luck
