Safari Power Steering Removal

My son found that out driving the van from school, imagine the look on his face when he found he had no brakes or steering and just geting his license 3 months before. I replaced the pump myself, it lasted 2 weeks before problems started. At idle it feels that the pump is not providing enough power to steer but the brakes work some what. Looks like I will be replacing it again. What is the best way to remove the pump? After taking the fan, shrouds and pulley off, and taking it off the bracket, there is very little room to take off the hoses but worse is getting out from behind the bracket. There has got to be a better way than to fight it for 2 hours to get it out.
