i raced a pontiac fiero :)

For anyone who isn't sure what kind of car this is its a very small 2 seater 1988 (i think) rear engine RWD car....its pretty quick but nothing crazy....I have a b16 powered crx and i haven;t been able to race anyone to much because first my speedometer broke and dissabled my vtec and then some other stuff happened....but to make a long story short i have the car back with my new dc 4-1 header and test pipe...which i can say made a very nice diffrence...well anyway this kid wanted to race me real bad because he thinks his car is all fast so we go onto the thruway to race where there are no cops on this one big stretch....another thing is he ONLY wanted to race from a stand still because he can launch like crazy...he doesn't spin the tires....so i finally agree being the nice guy that i am....so we come to a stop and i look at him and i hit the gas....he launched good and so did i ...i didn't really spin at all....he took me by about 1/2 a car or a little more by the first 2 gears but after i switched to 3rd i was out...i let off after i switched into 5th....my gear ratios are really short so i shut down at like 95-100....i had him by like 4 cars i would say...i would of kept pulling if i didn't let off
well sorry this is long but this is my first "real" kill with my car so i was excited.....peace

Excellent kill! Just watch out for those "Lamborginis" with the Fiero engines!

Better than racing a Neon? Why do people trash these all the time. They have more power than your car or a Fiero stock. Fieros aren't that fast they have a tiny four cylinder engine. I would expect you to be able to kill one. I am suprized that he held you up to third gear. Maybe he wasn't stock. Anyhow; nice kill.

What? A B16 puts out 160hp and a Fiero GT puts out around the same with it's 2.8 liter V6. The "tiny" four cylinder engine you mention is actually the base models 2.5 liter inline four which was pretty gutless. How can you say the Neon has more power than a stock Fiero? The most powerfull Neon's that I can remember had around 150hp which is about 10 shy of the Fiero and the V6 Fiero had an ass more torque. The Fiero GT ran low 16's, but it's MID-engined chassis accepts turbo's and V8 conversions readilly. The Neon runs high 15's/low 16's which is about the same as a STOCK CRX SI or Fiero GT, there are lot's of engine swaps available for the Fiero and CRX, how many swaps have you seen for the Neon?

Most Fieros don't have a V6, most of them have a weak four cylinder. Besides the 2003 Neon has 205HP and 220 torque.

1984 was the first year for the Fiero and the only year that the four-banger was the only engine. From '85 to '88 the V6 was put in both the Formula, GT, and 2M6 Fieros, the four-cylinder was only available in the base and 2M4 models. Most of the Fiero's still on the road are V6's because the I4's aren't worth the money needed to keep a 14+ year old running. You're talking about that SRT Neon correct? Most Neon's are going to have the 4 cylinder don't you think? There'll probably be more V6 Fieros than SRT Neon's, if they actually make the SRT Neon.

That is interesting, I didn't know that about Fieros. I hope the SRT Neon is produced in the same numbers as anyother Neon, and it has a 2.4L I4 in it. I guess I need to do some more research next time. I didn't know that about the Fiero.
