Question 92 S10 Blazer overhead console question

I have a 92' 4x4 S10 Blazer that only had a small overhead dome light. I purchased a 93' overhead console from a salvalge yard and would like to install it in my 92' Blazer. Does anyone know a site where I can see a installation sketch or can anyone tell me how to do this switch over? My husband says I am stupid for asking this question but I just want to make sure it can be done before he rips into my ceiling!!

Re: 92 S10 Blazer overhead console question

Well I think that you can tell your husband that there is no such thing as a stupid question, just people that are to ignorant to ask a question.

sorry no site that I'm aware of.

Just take your time, and use all the wiring from the parts truck that you can get.

If you have any problems with the wiring contact painless wire, and I'm sure that they can help you out with an adaptor or something. (I mention them enough that I wish I was getting a comission, but they seem to be the best).

I kinda suggest that you do the electrical part of the project, most women seem to have more patience with electrical (the hardest part) than men do.

The rest is something that your husband would enjoy doing.

Good luck, and don't forget to take photo's as you go along. It's a topic that should be shown in a web site.

Plus I'd like to see the final outcome.

Re: 92 S10 Blazer overhead console question

The only wiring in the overhead for a '93 is for the overhead lights. Shouldn't be a problem. There is a hot wire, a ground and a wire from the door plunger circuit so that they come on when the door is opened. You could eliminate that if you wish.

OOPS, forgot the dome light since that is part of the overhead. You could then use your existing wire and ground and run one up to the overhead lights for the door plunger circuit.

I put one from a 99 in my 92, it's pretty simple. Orange=hot that's all you have to remember. Unless you have the digital display unit then you will need to tie into the vss
