Escutcheon removal problem (Early beetle)
Hey Y'all:
I can't get the wiper switch out of the dash of my '58 VW Beetle. I bought the Escutcheon removal tool, but the aluminum escutcheon that holds to switch to the dash is badly worn and will not budge. I can't get enough leverage to move the escutcheon away from the dash & wiper switch because the notches on the escutcheon are worn away. I am considering using a drill or saw to remove the escutcheon & switch, but am afraid of damage to my vintage dashboard. PLEASE HELP ME WITH SOME HINTS OR HANDY TIPS!! I AM DESPARATE!! Thank you, Casey |

Re: Escutcheon removal problem (Early beetle)
Drill two small holes in it where the tool would engage, then use a pair of snap ring pliers.
