Swapping Differentials

I currently own a 1997 Xj 3.55 front diff. and am looking to swap with a 96 xj diff. What should I consider before swapping?

Re: Swapping Differentials

if its from a 4.0 it should have 3.55 gears but if its a 4 cylinder it might be 4.10s.are you just changing the housing or the axles and knuckles?then it matters if you have abs,non abs knuckles don't have the hole for the sensor bolt and the shafts for abs need the tone ring.other than that everything is pretty much the same.

Re: Swapping Differentials

you also have to pay attention to the type of transfer case, that will change the front gear ratio by 0.01 which will kill the t-case if it is the wrong one
