1994 Caravan LE 3.0L V6 Serpentine Belt HELP!

Looking for some help here. The serpentine belt came off my Caravan, and of course I cannot find the diagram that shows how to put it back on. I looked in a Haynes manual, strange enough the diagrams they have do NOT match what I have on my van. And the Owner's manual is useless of course.

Does anyone have a diagram showing how it goes on?

Looking for some quick help here, this is my only means of transportation!

Thanks!

Re: 1994 Caravan LE 3.0L V6 Serpentine Belt HELP!

There is usually a decal under the hood showing the routing for the belt. The decal is most commonly on the radiator shroud but may be on the inner fender near the belt. Take s close look and you'll probably find one under there. On my 2005 T&C, it is on the fan shroud near the hood lock.

Re: 1994 Caravan LE 3.0L V6 Serpentine Belt HELP!

I've looked, believe me. There is no routing sticker anywhere in that engine compartment. And of course the owner's manual is more than useless.

This is how the wheels/pulley's are on my van

-----A--------

---B------C---

D-------------E

A is the Alternator
B is what I think is the tension pulley.
C is another smooth pulley
D is the power steering
E - not sure what this one is...

E has another smaller V belt connected to it that I think goes to the air conditioning... but those are the only ones on my engine. What throws me is how it's supposed to feed, I feed it from under E, to D, up between B and C, over A, back down between B and C, and over to E.

But I have slack left that looks like it should go over another wheel, but there is no other one to use.. I'm lost here.

Here a try at drawing the routing with text. It isn't to scale but hopefully it shows the route:
------|-A-\
------|----\
------|-|B\-\C
------|-|--\-==\
------|-|---\----\
------|D|----\-E-/

In words, the belt goes over A (alternator) straight down and around D (power steering), right back up over B (tensioner - the back of the belt contacts it) then down to E (crankshaft) and comes back up under C (idler - the back of the belt contacts it and it just keeps the belt from hitting the motor mount) heading back up to A. The V belt on the other pulley on the crankshaft runs the A/C compressor.

It sounds like you went A-B-D-E which would leave a lot of slack that wasn't looped D-B-E

Serp Belt Routings.

I just wanted to add my two bits!, hopefully you find it helpful!

For the Home Mech, ! (Re : Serpentine Belt Installation)

I find the best place to buy a Serpentine Belt for any Chrysler is from the dealer, and the best thing for the home mechanic is that if you ask the parts person, he will even print you out the Serpentine Belt Routing picture for your specific model, don't be afraid to ask!, also you should find the routing located on the front upper timing belt cover!

Good Luck!
