Hey Guys.
I was wondering how to reboot the ECU (computer I guess) on my 95 Accord LX. I have changed all the oils, belts, put in an air filter, and plus the car is newused I would like to reboot all the settings. I know that it should'nt be tampered with. Is it as simple as probably disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes or is it something more complicated? Thanks. |

i found a bunch of conflicting instructions when i searched the net for ecu rebooting. the method that worked for me was to unplug the ecu fuse while the car was running. i left it out for several minutes, then i plugged it back in and started the car with everything turned off (lights, stereo, fan, etc.). i let my car idle for several minutes without touching the gas.
i put in an air intake and i was getting really bad mileage (~20mpg), but all is well now that i reset the ecu.

Here what you do;
first method. you need to find fuse for ECU back-up and pull it out for 10sec.(10sec is enough) some times Honda pair ECU back-up with something else, on 6gen V6 its paired with clock, it may be same for your car. BTW, engine must off. second way of resetting ECU. since you have LX and LX doesn't have anti-thief device in head unit, so you can dicsonnect negative terminal of battery for 10sec, but you will lose all presettings on your radio. another thing, it takes 10-15min of normal driving for ECU to learn new set-up. |

resetting helps ECU to learn new set-up, when you install high performance parts.
high performance parts like intake (filter or entire intake), igntion(spark plugs, wires and coil), exhaust (cat-back, axle-back, header) |

Wait a second....For starters my Accord is a 95 LX Sedan Not a V6.
Ok, so to reset the ECU I can turn off the car and just disconnect the negative terminal and wait for a couple of seconds and then connect the negative terminal again and start the car and let it idle for a couple of minutes. Is this right? OR I can disconnect the Fuse under the dashboard while the car is running, leave the car running and then turn off the car and plug the fuse back in and turn it back on and let it idle for a while. Is this correct? Sorry for the headaches....

i have an air dynamic intake...got it through ebay for cheap ![]() also, some people suggest resetting your ecu with every oil/air filter change because your car is constantly adjusting. when you change things, even minor things like an air filter, it affects the engine. resetting the ecu won't increase performance, but it can recover lost power and mileage...

If you do that you will accomplish nothing, you will do same thing as you turn ignition off with your key, while power still supplied to ECU thru ECU back-up fuse. you need to pull ECU back-up fuse or disconnect battery, end of discussion. |
