slick 50

I have been to thinking about using slick 50 in my burb. I have just over 100,000 on the motor. Has anyone had trouble with using it? What I'm asking is did anyone start having trouble with a motor that had nothing wrong with it. My burb dosen't burn any oil or drop it. I was told by some of the guys at work that my rpm's would drop with the addition of slick 50.

Re: slick 50

My dad poured a bottle of slick 50 into his 80 scottsdale and man did it make a difference in that truck. It ran better idled smoother , all around it improved, if even brough back some HP, we were young at that time and just first starting to drive and the druck would not do a burn out before the slick 50 , but it sure would after and that was back at least 15 years ago and the truck is still running , not much left of the body though.

Re: slick 50

I used Slick50 in my burban a few years ago. The good thing about Slick is that it will warrant the engine against lubrication issues for 45,000 miles.

Something else you might consider is going with a synthetic oil. I love Royal Purple! I use it in my Mustang, and soon will in the Suburban. Don't change viscosity (use the standard), but the oil does not need to be changed for 12,000 miles! That's gonna save you a little money. All you have to do is a filter change and top off every 4,000 mi, and change the Royal Purple every 12,000 - and you're good to go. It has worked great in the 'stang, and it will in the suburban too, I'm pretty sure! I can't wait to get it in there!
