Re: dummy lights stay on

oh yeah! check your alternator output and your battery. if the voltage gets to low your dummy lights will turn on.

i noticed my dummy light "security" stays on all the time. even when there are no keys in the car and its all locked up. i think that may be the cause of the other lights?? its differnet lights that come on and stay on. the lights that always come on are the "low fuel" "security" "abs" and "battery". my fuel guage doesnt work when the low fuel light is on. the alternator output is 14 volts on my instrument guage. the battery is less then one year old.

Here's an idea, most idiot lights will come on when you first turn the key on or during start, this is called the bulb check.

What year vehicle are we talking about? Perhaps there is an ignition switch problem.
