b16 Throttle body and alternator questions

Does anyone know if I could use a 91 integra throttle body on a 1st gen B16? I compared the two and they seem to have the same diameter, but I'm not sure if I would need the vtec one. I don't like the fact that my b16 one had to have the tps replaced and screwed in. the b18 one has the factory set tps and I would rather use that one. Also what tb gasket would I use for that? 91 teg b18 non-obd or 94 del sol b16 obd-1?
Also would a 90dx d15b2 alternator work on the 1st gen b16? I heard as long as they are non-obd it would, just want to find out for sure before I try. Which car would I need one for if I went for a higher aperage one 91 teg?

Re: b16 Throttle body and alternator questions

im pretty sure that integra TB should work. And whats wrong with the tps? The one on my b16 was broken and I replaced it with the one from the d16a6 and it works fine. And what do you mean "screwed in"?

And about the alternator, im pretty sure it wont work because the wiring harness is diffrent. But im not 100% sure.

By "screwed in" I mean that when I had it replaced He tapped the TB and used screws to hold in the TPS, no gasket eitherbetween the two, and hand calibrated with a multimeter. I've been having idling issues with it and I was just trying to narrow things down. I heard that sometimes the TPS can be off slightly and not throw a code, maybe I'm wrong. I'd rather have the factory set one so I don't hve to worry bout that.
On the alternator, no one knows what the equivalent us model of a jdm b16a alternator would be?

The stock TPS is riveted in, My friend helped me with the swap and he did it, I'm not sure which TPS he used.

Re: b16 Throttle body and alternator questions

Are you sure it was riveted in? The one on my a6 LOOKED like it was riveted in, but it just had funky screws that I had to cut sluts into so I could use a flathead screwdriver to get them out.

Re: b16 Throttle body and alternator questions

I'm not positive, My buddy did it before I got to his house, I remember him telling me it was riveted . I'm gonna try to get a gasket from autozone and compare it to the TB and the pic in the manual, I'll see what happens.

Re: b16 Throttle body and alternator questions

90 Integra for the alternator....not sure if the D will work.
58mm diameter for either tb, I would "think" either gasket would work. Check the mating surfaces and look for differences.
What kind of idle issues...high?low?erratic? http://www.hondaswap.com/forums/inde...howtopic=29790

The throttle bodies are pretty much the same. It will work. As for the alternator, As long as the mounting brackets are the same, it should work also. Make sure the pulley is the same as your crank pulley, meaning that it takes the same belt.

Thanks for the info on the alternator guys.
The idle is prob is kinda hard to explain, Since I got the swap it's always had a very slight misfire. For a while it would stall if the car was facing down a steep slope, and I thought it was the fuel pump (which I haven't eliminated yet). Fixed a couple exhaust leaks (cheap ass welds), and I felt a little difference. It would misfire sometimes, and I found out my header is bent, one pipe more than the other (ordered new one not arrived). Distributor? (plan on replacing anyway). Last week I was in the drive-thru and I noticed everytime the fan came on the lights would dim and the car would choke. So now I think it might be a combination of possibly the header and the alternator.

Re: b16 Throttle body and alternator questions

I doubt its your header unless its pretty much smashed closed... one of my pipes is dented in halfway and the car runs fine.
Looks like your on the right track with changing the alternator for your electrical, might want to have it checked (Autozone/similar)out before buying new.
Before my distributor crapped out it felt like a hard miss. I pulled the cap off and it was loaded with red dust and with the distributor out I couldn't spin the shaft easily, bearing was seizing up.

Re: b16 Throttle body and alternator questions

Thanks again guys, I'm goin to Acura next week to pick up a 91 teg tb gasket to see it it'll work only 6 bucks so what the hell, picked up a "newer" used b16 alternator today for $20, so I'll get that tested before I put it in, hopefully that works until I can afford a better one.
