Help Please!!!

Hello All, I Have A 93 Lumina Euro, When I Go From A Stop To Accelerate The Lights And Everything Dim Out. And The Car Seems To Lose Power For A Quick Second And Then Everything Brightens Up To Normal. The Alternator Was Replaced About 2yrs Ago. It Has A Lifetime Warranty, Purchased From Autozone. Also A Brand New Battery Last Winter. Can Someone Please Help. Also While Sitting At A Light, The Idle Seems To Go Up And Down (between 200-300 Rpms). What Could Be The Prob. Ignition Packs Replaced Early This Summer As Well As A Tune Up. I Do Need A New Oxygen Sensor, But I Dont Think That Will Cause These Problems.

Re: Help Please!!!

Huh, weird symptoms. Is the belt slipping from the alternator maybe? Although you'd probably hear a nasty shriek. This happened to a friend of mine (on a Ford Coutour SVT) and it only happened when he reached about 5000 rpm, but the same symptoms, and his alternator being bad ended up being the problem.

It may help to replace the serpentine belt. The up and down revving could be a vacuum leak or sticky IAC valve. Ive also heard that a bad TPS can make the engine rpms jump up and down at idle. First thing I would do though is give the intake and throttle body a good cleaning.
