94 sl1 mechanic probs

okay since ive bought this saturn ive got nuthing but probs with it.
sometimes ill be driving and the motor will give out on me. Now to resolve this what i would do is take a spare spark plug and plug it in one of the wires and stick it on the head of my motor and start the car. then once it is running, stop the engine, unplug the spark plug and stick the wire back in its place. then take off. thats my 1st problem. Some times ill start the car and itll run for like 5 seconds unless i give it gas else itll stop. but i dont just mean push the gas, i have to pump the pedal reall fast, if i hold the gas down, its as if i wasent touching it at all. so im driving and i cant really stop and ive got to run thru red lights and skip stops or else the motor stops and sometimes wont start again for another hour or so. then sometimes ill start up, and it seems as if the gas is stuck, the motor turns at around 3000-3500 rpm. i barely need to touch the gas while shifting. also i think i might have a bad grounding with my battery, sometimes my head lights and dash lights will start dimming up and down. and when i start the car, i can see sparks comming from the the top left of the motor, right where the mounting bolt is, beside the alternator strap/belt. this is really pissing me off. is there any clue to what i can do to fix all this? or at least part. PLEASE help, im about to blow my car up!!!!

i'm confused, are you saying you drive around with only 3 wires connected? and the forth connected to a loose spark plug?

how old are the plugs/wires/coils?

no what i ment was that when the car stalls i unplug one and put the loose spark plug on the motor to start it up, then i stop the car, put the plug back in place and restart the car and take off, but i found out what the problem was, its the batterys grounding, it wasent good so it stalled the car cause off no power, i just added a grounding wire from the motor to the fram and everything is fine now
