Thinking about buying a 350Z. Mods/Gains

I am thinking of buying a 350Z in about a year to a year and a half. How much are simple mods CAI,exhaust, pullies, Y pipe, header, chip? What kind of gains should I expect or are they worth it? I will probably get the mods one at a time also.

Re: Thinking about buying a 350Z. Mods/Gains

The mods are not unusually expensive. I paid about the same money for modding my eclipse & my 350. If I were you, I would get your typical mods, then reflash the ecu to make these parts a "system."

Out of your list, I would focus on the exhaust components first (higher whp gains), throw on the pulley, install the CAI, then reflash the ecu. You also may want to look into getting a new rear gear that takes it from a 3.5 ratio to a 3.9 . . . hopefully, the price will drop by then, but at the moment, there's only one manufacturer. It will sacrifice top speed, but it will send you through the gears quite a bit quicker.

I have an Injen intake and Exhaust kit installed in my 350z. Injen said that these two kits will raise my car's horsepower by 23 HP/18 torque. I really don't know if it did or not because I have never gotten the chance to get it dynoed. If it really did raise it by that much then I think its a pretty good investment.

Dyno from Injen for the Cold Air intake : http://www.injen.com/webpages/testin...age%20gain.jpg

That is where you will find the exhaust : http://www.injen.com/exhaust.html

Hope it helped

Re: Thinking about buying a 350Z. Mods/Gains

Little breakdown..

Active Tuning 4-Wire Grounding Kit - $40
Injen Race Division (RD) Cold-Air Intake (CAI) - $250
Crawford Equal-Length Headers - $1150 OR Nexus Equal-Length Stainless-Steel Headers - $675
Nexus Test Pipes - $380
Unorthodox Racing Underdrive Pulley Set (with belts) - $329
Borla Cat-Back True Dual Exhaust OR Injen SES True-Dual Cat-Back Exhaust OR Stillen True-Dual Cat-Back Exhaust - $699 , $860 , $1,295 (respectively)
Crawford Cast Upper Intake Plenum [with or without Nissan OEM lower intake plenum] OR 350EVO Intake Manifold - $350 [plus $222 for Nissan OEM lower intake plenum] , $800-1200 [just a guess since it hasn't been released] (repectively)
Tomei [268 /Exhaust: 10.5 / Intake: 10.5] Camshafts - $1,179
JWT Flywheel OR JUN Flywheel - $769 , $425 (respectively)
ProFlow Throttle Body - $230
NGK Iridium Spark Plugs - $59.70

Total: $4,838.70 to $6,881.70 before installation of anything, and with no tuning.

Now, with tuning, it would be:
I-Speed ECU OR Technosquare ECU Reflash - $1,000-1,200 , $495 (respectively)

Total: $5,333.70 to $8,081.70 before installation of anything.

Have you gotten close to 300rwhp but haven't touched it just yet?

You may want to consider the following modifications:
Moroso Fuel Super Cool Can - $91.95

forced induction would be the only choice to go for power, majority of NA mods will leave you wanting more.

Re: Thinking about buying a 350Z. Mods/Gains

Hi, I see you've done your home work regarding the 350Z. I have a question for you, I have an 04 Performance edition. The car has been upgraded using the Complete APS exhaust and Turbo systems. The car is basically new with under 2000 miles. I know it's a matter of time before the clutch goes south and I have an ACT to replace it with. My problem is the Flywheel, is the extra noise and drivability worth the change? The stock Fly is a pretty trick peice and the weight is there for a purpose. What can I expect? Currently I'm making 320 at the rear according to a Mustang Dyno.

so, nissan350ztt... could you give us some estimated horsepower gains on each of those mods? That would be really helpful for those of us just wanting to add a little extra kick to our z's

Your asking me a question that I can't answer. All the Mods were done at one time. You can get the APS system With or W/O an Exhaust. The Kit includes everything you need except gauges. I have no cats and I use down pipes which helps. When all the parts were bolted on, it went straight to the Dyno. It's a lot of money but it turns the Z into a nice car. Bassically, you can expect 100 HP over stock if you go all the way.

that's the whole ball of wax, Turbo and full exhaust. The whole thing is bolt on's no internal work is required.
