New System
I am thinking of getting the Elemental Design Combo #2 16Kv.2 Dual 2 and I was wondering if it was a good system? What box should I put them in and where is a good place for boxes, i like the look of the fiberglass in boxes as well? Also, what is the best way to wire them up?

Re: New System
E designs sells there own boxes, or you can build your own. Fiberglass? you are probably talking about a bandpass box, you dont want that. And its plexiglass. And the best way to wire them...at 1 ohm.

Fiberglass is a style, it's different from plexiglass. Are you looking to be a showcar? Fiberglass can look nice, but, it's not the easiest thing to do, takes a bit of practice and skill.

Oh, haha, I didn't read it that close to notice that error. Yea, fiberglass isn't "inside" the box, rather all around it.

Re: New System
How do you wire them to 1-ohm? Which box should I get, 1 double, 2 single, vented, sealed?

Make one box with with a divider so there are 2 separate chambers inside. Ported or sealed depends what kinda sound you want....I wanted spl so I went ported, but i guess you can get tight accurate bass with a good ported box too, but that's more for what sealed is known for.

Re: New System
gahhh, howmany times must we go over this. Bandpass is the most efficent in the frequincy range it is tuned for. 6th order being the most efficent but there are no real fomulas so its geusswork. a bandpass CAN sound as good as sealed in its frequincy range but it takes proper calculation and enclosure building. my personal likeing is a medium sized ported enclosure. gives accurate bass and higher SPL than sealed or small ported. for maximum SPL high tuneing and larger enclosures are performers and for the most accurate bass IB and sealed. sealed offering the most cone controll in very low frequincies.
as for a noob building a fiberglasss enclosure....all i can say is do a few years of practice glassing or take a fiberglass class. glassing is an art, not a skill. |
