Re: Gm radio wire color codes
I'm not sure what they are but try going into AutoZone and buying a repair manual for the Alero. Depending on what year he has will determine the radio. The 99's through 01 had the old square button radio...the 01.5's have the new RDS radio with the more round buttons. Which radio are you working with? That may help other people help you.

Re: Gm radio wire color codes
Why aren't you using a wiring harness built for the car? All you do when you have that is match the colors. And you most likely have to relocate his stock rdio because the airbags and chimes and stuff like that are ran through the radio on most 2001 and newer GM cars. The also make a device that you can completly get rid of the factory radio and still keep everything but it is a bit pricey.

with 01 and newer, an aftermarket radio will not work without relocating the stock radio and running data wires to it. there is a wiring harness that you can get at any major electronics dealer. and once you get that the color code will be with the harness

Here's a link to what I was talking about. You can run an aftermarket radio without having to relocate the stock radio.
