Alright well this is really starting to piss me off my friend i work with is bragging about his 95 subaru impreza, all i know about it is its a 4 banger and he put an aftermarket turbo on hes always goin on about how is car could kick my 1992 dodge stealths rts ass. So am i missing something here or is this guy totally nuts?

If your R/T is na then there is a possibility that a turboed Impreza will beat you. If tuned right they can be very fast cars. It may end up being a drivers race depending on your mods and driving ability. If you want to shut him up race him. If he beats you congratulate him on building a fast car but remind him yours looks better.

then remind him that he has a turbo and that you are going all motor and that if you had a vr-4, it would be a different story

Then he can remind you that if he had a C5 it would still be a different story. Then you can remind him that if you had a Ford GT it would be a different story. Then he can remind you that if he had a Chrysler ME Four-Twelve it would be a different story still. Then you can remind him that if you had an F-16 fighter jet it would definetly be a different story.

Just trying to point out that there are always "if-thens" but they don't mean anything in racing. What mods do you have zax? If he's just got the turbo and very basic supporting mods and you're fairly well modded then it could be a good race. Just race him and see how it goes.

Turbo'd Imprezza will beat a R/T easy...especially if its a 2.5 RS that he turbo'd. But race the dude, ya never know, maybe he got a shitty turbo.

I say race him because a 95 Impreza produces 135hp stock, and you know that your has around 222hp. And because a turbo for a 95 Impreza can add around 50-60hp, so i think your good to go.

I thought an impreza turbo has 227hp stock. they are fast cars but they are not in the same category as ours. on the street that does not matter but in a REAL race those two cars would never run each other.

just run him and take it however it turns out. there is no shame in loosing to an impreza. Subaru and Mitsu have been friendly rivals for decades.

Zax tell him that if he wants to see what his car will do against a vr4 then tell him to come down to san jose and race me. i have beaten evo 8s and its not cause of what is done to my car its because i know how to drive my car. just let me know if he wants a vr4 to race. I'll be waiting.

thanks for answering my questions guys well just to let you know its not a stock turbo its after market i work with the guy and im like "what make is your turbo?" he told me NOS. im like what the hell nos doesent make turbos then hes like O i mean edelbrock. Im like what the hell but i know he does have a turbo because ive been in his car it dont kick in till 3000rpm and plus his car is an automatic so it didnt really seem like we were goin that fast or he knew what the hell he was talking about. Well im pretty sure his car aint pushin more than 220 hp not sure on the torque however so i dont know i think i might smoke him cause my car is stick but what do you guys think. Is it just me or do you guys hate it when people talk about there cars and dont know what the hell there talkin about?

Yes, that pisses everyone off...personally I say race him, I think you might have him...my mom has the same car...except its a 97 or 98. It is slow as all hell...her's is auto too. I don't know how much he has modded it...and it seems from what you are saying...he doesn't know all that much either.
Race him, I think you have a decent chance.

the 2.5L didn't come out until just this year (05 model year), so at most he would have a 2.0L

ya, starting with the 02 impreza WRX turbo model, those had 227hp AT THE CRANK! so with the AWD drivetrain loss, there's much less. I think Zax has a good shot. Zax, just race him and find out. From what you've said, it appears that since your friend doens't know jack about his own car, he most likely doesn't know jack about how to drive it either.

Thanks for all the info guys I agree sayin my friend dont know shit I guess this weekend after work my friend with a 300zx n/a (5speed) and the kid who dont know nothin bout his impreza are probaly gonna race so i beleive its a tossup between me and the 93 300zx

Uhh the 2.5 has been around for a while. A friend of mine has a 2.5 Impreza that hes had for a few years.
